Around the Curve

Around the Curve

Around the curve, beyond the bend of Spring,

the road to summer stretches through the lees

in calm and nurtured warm awakening

concordant with mankind.  I see the trees

re-echoing their buds, forthcoming green-

the hope of color, permeating air

near to the nesting birds.  The joy serene

as though the wind heard boasting everywhere.

Around the curve, I contemplate the road-

the forest deep, the plains and hills and streams

and there I am, for time has lapsed and showed

the past behind me once again, it seems...

but I must keep my eye around the bend

and hope in faith for Life at earthly end....
