Fire in Ire

Fire in Ire

Once long ago in the great land of Eire,

St. Patrick called upon the people to

observe the shamrock leaves.  He would inspire

new faithfulness in many hearts, anew-

by teaching how the Trinity is true.

Within three leaves the beauteous shamrock holds,

t'was then divinely so, a wondrous fire

of new-found faith across the land unfolds,

just as within St. Patrick's vision was foretold...

(a Spenserian stanza poem)
