Before Me...

Before Me...

Before me, scarlet leaves within the breeze
meander, falling from the maple trees.
I write this poem and contemplate the day,
and listen to what Autumn has to say.
It tells me how this year is almost spent-
I hear it in the burnished woodland's scent.
Expectantly, I'm waiting patiently
for someone who means very much to me...
and suddenly the school bell rings again-
the same I've heard over the years, and then-
I see her once again come out the door,
just as I have so many times before.
There's leaves within the wind that blows her hair,
and Autumn makes me once again aware
how youth within it's season slips away-
how timely changes happen every day...
but yet I know, at least just for awhile,
I'll still be blessed to see a child's smile.
She gets into the car with words so sweet-
"Hi Gamma!"...she says, just as our eyes meet;
she shares her day and blesses me some more,
and off we go in time's great corridor...

Proverbs 17:6...Children's children are a crown to the aged...

(I'm speaking of my 10 year old granddaughter, Rayghan.  I've been fortunate to spend alot of
time with her, and often pick her up at school.  The Lord continues to teach me the importance
of family, and just how special a granddaughter's love is.)   (She's called me 'Gamma' instead
of 'Grandma' since she was 2. ) :)
