Eventide in January

Small rabbit tracks stand out aglow

in twilight's hue of periwinkle.

Amidst a gentle sprinkling snow,

a star or two begins to twinkle.

 

There's creaking of the barren trees-

in Winter's chill, the only sound

within the soothing, timely breeze

sent from the Heavens, earthenbound.

 

Reflecting in the icy stream,

there floats an incandescent moon;

an hourglass within its beam

tells morning is approaching soon -

 

when night for certain, beckons day

as it has been upon this earth,

in light of the Creator's way

since ancient times and hallowed birth.

 

A breeze to wind caresses me;

I harken to the twilight's hue

and praise the One who oversees-

this evening, and each day anew.
