October ushers in November,

and readies woodland for December

into the Winter's dove-like glow

when sun makes diamonds of the snow.

We see the very branches souls-

a streamlined beauty of the trees,

their strength of roots, a secret goal;

we may hear creaking in the breeze

of branches beckoning the Spring;

they thrive to speak - they long to sing

of seasons past or seasons coming

midst ancient winds and hallowed drumming.

I wrote this after walking my dog near a wooded area.  It's that time of

year here when most of the leaves on the trees are gone. :)
