Heaven Sent

(a Shakespearean sonnet)

With arms outstretched, she welcomes morning sun;
appearing through the trees, a rainbow light
in dawning mist, now paints this day begun
as rain has ceased to fall in passing night.

A bright horizon calls her eyes to sky;
she sets her face to wind and looks ahead.
Above the clouds, she as the eagle, flies...
beyond all earthly footprints that are tread.

The warmth now beckons, cradling her thought-
she sings...angelic tones within her voice,
as trumpets heard for eons, all God-wrought,
ring out to multitudes - angels rejoice! -

just as it has been since this planet's birth -
God sends His angels out o're all the earth.
