Through a Child's Eyes

By Lucia Kiersch Haase
Other Poems by Lucia Kiersch Haase

(This poem is a villanelle like Dylan Thomas's 'Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.')

Through A Child's Eyes

Through a child's eyes beams a trusting light
like that divine, of the newborn Son
or a hopefull Star in the dark of night.

Yes, a granddaughter's love, shining bright-
such blessings of joy each day begun...
through a child's eyes beams a trusting light.

As a child of God, He restores my sight-
new vision beheld, with the grace of One! -
as a hopeful Star in the dark of night.

A daughter's touch with faith-filled might;
a son's path set...let the race be won!
Through a child's eyes beams a trusting light.

As a blessed memory taking flight-
through my father's eyes, let His will be done!-
like a hopeful Star in the dark of night.

From the Father teaching what is right
in the watchful guidance of the Son,
through a child's eyes beams a trusting light
like a hopeful Star in the dark of night.
