From an Elevation

From An Elevation

(a diminishing verse poem)

Just as the hawk in current's flow,
God lifts me when I'm feeling low;
so much to Him I feel I owe.

His words in mind like lightening flash
to calm the coming storms that lash
'till all comes down to earth and ash.

Though weathered wings begin to wear,
that still small Voice speaks in my ear,
within the scheme of things that are.

Oh catch me Lord when comes my time-
in balanced elevation I'm
content to know the you in me.

(A diminishing verse poem is a poem of any number of triplet stanzas.  In each stanza,
 the last word of the first line is reduced by a letter in the second line, and again the
 third line.)
