The Forest

The Forest

While walking in the forest, I can see

new buds upon the branches, bough to bough-

new Light that filters into me, somehow,

the same wind as before, in front of me.

Upon a path I know is meant to be,

I look ahead to fauna, brow to brow-

this denizen of earth, that I am now,

until the end and then I shall be free;

but now my words fulfill on branch to branch

from which the root sends manna from the core,

and all of this abounding with each season;

for nothing bloomed or grown happens by chance-

this canopy I'm 'neath 'fore Heaven's door-

these thoughts from Him reflecting rhyme and reason...

(a Petrarchan sonnet)
