Sunrise on the River

(a French Lai poem)

Leaping in esprit,
the river decrees
God's hand-
glowing brilliantly
and sky-haloed free,
as planned.
Flowing cadency
thrives concordantly
with land.

Beckoning my sight,
waves - diamond bright
proclaim
living water might,
walking in His light
and name.
Reflections ignite
in joy and delight,
aflame.

(The French Lai is believed to have originated prior to the 13 and 14 centuries.  It is comprised
of couplets of 5 syllable lines, all on the constant rhyme, split by single lines of 2 syllables each,
which also rhyme with one another.  The lines in the stanzas are not fixed, nor or the number
of stanzas.)
