On My Porch

On My Porch

As I sit on my porch

and look out to the trees,

I am thinking of time

as the wind or the breeze

that comes forth and then goes

just upon touching one,

and then comes back around

with each new day begun.

As I look at the trees-

how the branches are stirred,

there's a flow and an ease

almost as if assured...

of the ancient wind's course-

of the time that's to be,

as I sit on the porch

and the breeze touches me...

Psalm 39: 4-5...'each man's life is but a breath'.

Psalm 90: 12...Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
