I Went to Church Last Sunday...
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

I Went To Church Last Sunday…

I went to church last Sunday, and much to my surprise…

I got up real early...  It was before sunrise.

I wanted to be with others to worship our Lord.

But when I arrived, many looked “bored.”

When they were singing the songs…  Some didn’t seem to care.

As I looked around, hardly anyone noticed I was there.

By the time the people were asked to sing another song.

Some greeted the worship leader with just another “yawn.”

Does anyone really want to worship Jesus the risen king?

Is church a place to simply “get bored with everything?”

As the preacher arose to preach his “Sunday sermon best.”

“Fill in between the lines,” he said…  This was to be the “test.”

Shortly after the outlines were filled, there was a “closing prayer.”

I noticed many of the people were “happy to get out of there!”

I thought to myself… As I walked out the door…

Is this what the true body of Christ is meant for?”

“Where is the sin-cleansing power of God I’ve heard about?”

“Has the power of God in many churches been ‘kicked out?’”

I pray that the presence of God will get a hold of our hearts.

May our worship for Jesus be evident…  Right from the start!

May our relationship with Christ be very important to us.

May we give him our life!  Our heart!  And our trust!

May our love for him not be a “boring Sunday experience.”

May we serve HIM daily… Expecting a divine appearance!

The Jesus I know is bigger than any

nomination might be!

And only his blood has the power to set men free!

Serving and loving Jesus is an opportunity with living!

A life in totally surrender to Christ is

what we must be giving!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
