Throughout My LIfetime...

Throughout My Lifetime…

Throughout my lifetime…  Which has “come and went.”

A lot of my time has “foolishly been spent.”

Throughout my lifetime…  I’ve seen many things.

And have tried the “happiness” they promise to bring.

Throughout my lifetime…   I’ve lived like

there’s no tomorrow.

Only to wake up the next day drowned

 in misery and sorrow!

Throughout my lifetime…   I’ve tried

to enjoy the years

Some of the things I’ve done,

 have brought shame and tears!

Throughout my lifetime…  I’ve seen people

“come and go.”

Nothing they’ve tried has brought

true peace to their soul.

Throughout my lifetime…  I’ve heard

of a savior’s grace.

I’ve been doing nothing but living

 in sin and disgrace!

Throughout my lifetime…  I’ve had many “chances.”

Only to be overwhelmed by life’s circumstances.

During my lifetime…   I’ve thought about God’s love.

But I’ve been busy giving him “the shove”

During my lifetime…  I’m going to stop and listen.

As to the kind of life I’ve truly been missin’!

During my lifetime…  I’m going to obey God’s voice.

I’ll accept his salvation,   and make HIM my first choice!

During my lifetime…  And each day that shall pass by…

I’m going to live for Jesus, until the day I die!

During this lifetime that God has graciously given…

I’m going  to be free and totally forgiven!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
