Why Do We Go To Church???

Why Do We Go to church?

There’s many who go to church

for different reasons.

But, is it God, or themselves they

seek to be pleasing?

One would think that after so much time and years…

People wouldn’t look for one to

“tickle their ears.”

But, this seems to be the reason

why many attend.

They want to hear a message

that doesn’t “offend.”

As long as they can come and feel good

about their sin.

They don’t want to hear what it means

Any kind of message of God’s holiness

seems to be lost.

Many don’t know what it means to “take

up their cross.”

“Pass to offering plate and keep

the entertainment going.”

This is about the only kind of message

people are knowing.

It’s no wonder why this country

is in the shape it’s in.

As many people, even in church,

are loaded with sin.

Whether we’re in church or not,

we need to come clean.

We need to allow Jesus to be Lord

over everything!

We need to come to the altar

and God’s holy throne.

We need to allow Jesus to rule over

our heart and home!

We need to seek Christ in

humbleness and prayer!

We need to daily lay before him our

every sin and care!

We need to seek his holiness like

we’ve never done before!

In our life, God’s word needs to increase

We need to have a heart’s cry and deep

inward compassion.

Serving God with all of our heart

must be our passion!

Let’s really think of why we go to a building

in Jesus’ name.

It’s time to serve God 100 percent and

not play any games!

Let’s come and seek the Lord

while he is so very near!

Let’s be ready for that day when

Jesus shall appear!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
