I Will Obey Christ!
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

I Will Obey Christ!

Often, I haven’t obeyed Christ like I should.

A promise to follow him is what I understood!

He asked that I take up my cross and follow him.

This was the way I chose to daily serve him.

But lately, I’ve chosen to lay this cross down.

As I have stumbled from temptations all around.

This cross, I was once proud of, am now ashamed.

And have brought dishonor to Christ’ holy name.

“Please forgive me Jesus.”  “I have sinned greatly.”

The meaning of the cross has been speaking lately.

It speaks of Christ’ sacrifice and forgiveness of sin.

And gives a hope and meaning in being born again!

I’m going to pick up this cross and humbly bear it!

It’s meaning of redemption, I want to share it!

I failed my Lord, but he was there

 there to pick me up!

I humbly ask for his love, to once more, fill me up!

Through my failures and

 the many shortcomings.

I can see what the cross’ message is becoming!

It changed me! And brought

a restoration I needed!

With the cross of Christ,

 my life is now completed!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
