Seeing Fear in Their Faces

by Jean Mollett

Keep close watch on the storms,
where they're coming from, going to.
The weatherman shows how bad the
storms will be, areas with circulation
of tornadoes. Saying tornadoes could
form at anytime, without any warnings
at all. Nerves are jumping, very tense.
Seeing fear in their faces.

Taking safe shelter 'til the worst is
over, hoping and praying everything
will be alright. Trying to reach loved
ones  that may not know it's coming
and no answer. Leaving you to wonder
if they're okay or not; minds spinning,
hearts racing. Hearing the winds pick
up, rain pouring down.
Seeing fear in their faces.

Some towns not so lucky, got hit
really hard. Possibly tucked away,
safe in our homes, we watch the
news, weather channel. Waiting, not
knowing what to expect, we finally
see the horror in front of us. You
can not imagine what it looks like,
unless you're there in person. People
helping each other to pick up the
pieces of what is left. Some finding
nothing left to pick up.
Seeing fear in their faces.

Watching more of the news, you see
people coming together. Hugging,
crying, seeking loved ones missing.
You can see and feel the distress,
hurt with them, cry with them. You
can see it in their faces, their
eyes and feel it in their hearts.
As they all come together to comfort
one another. Hoping and praying it
will be okay, get back to normal.
Some have a long hard road ahead
of them. Keep hoping and praying
for each other. It breaks your heart.
Seeing fear in their faces.

Author's Note: Everyone needs to come together and pray for them. Help if we can some how. I've seen some damage from tornadoes, it's not a pretty picture, it's horrible. It's even worse  when they're wiped out, homes, towns.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
