A New Family in Town (Lit Mama)

by Jean Mollett

The watching and waiting is over,
Little Mama's eggs have hatched
They arrived somtime Tuesday.
Two were seen, yesterday evening.
A new family in town.

This morning, I heard loud chirping.
I looked out my front door window,
Little Mama sitting high on her nest.
First two heads pop up, then I saw
a third one and then a fourth head
pop up. I thought WOW, four.

Mama was feeding her babies,
their little mouths wide open.
They may be little, but they're
mighty. When it's feeding time,
they reach up high.
A new family in town.

Author's Note: It was something else to watch. How often do you get to see Mother Nature at her best? See the babies being fed.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
