A Parakeet Named Sparky

A Parakeet Named Sparky

Sparky's a smaller parakeet compared to any of the
others I had. He's more or less the runt of parakeets,
I've seen four sizes of them. Sparky's a little bit
longer than a sparrow, not by much. The others I had
were twice his size. My mom's were three times the
size of any that I had. I saw some parakeets in a
aquarium tank on a big stand at the pet shop. I sure
got a surprise. The ones in the pet shop were huge,
they would cover your hand. Never knew there were
four different sizes, if not more.
A parakeet named Sparky.

Sparky has multi colors, he's yellowish green
all over. On his head, wings he has small stripe
markings, between a darkest green, also black sorta.
On the sides of his face , like in the cheek area.
He has a small purplish-blue spot on each side of
his head. And he has pretty much a mind of his own.
Sparky talks up a storm, mostly whatever he hears,
he repeats it.
A parakeet named Sparky.

Sparky's been with me for over 11 years now, he'll
be 12 this Dec 03. Some people say birds are dumb,
animals. I found out shortly after I got him. Nothing
dumb about him, he's smarter than I thought. I found
out quickly. Sparky was a couple months, I guess about
3 or 4 months. It wasn't long after I got him. My husband
and I both, would get Sparky out to play. When playtime
was over, he'd go back into the cage, with the door
closed.
A parakeet named Sparky.

It was kinda funny, cause when he did it, he started
chirping. He'd tell on his self, he'd flip his wings
out. Like look at me, I'm out. Sparky did this three
times, I looked each time, finally the third time I
found out how he was doing it. I was going to tell
you how, but I'll let you figure it out. When I
fixed where he was getting out, he wasn't a happy
camper. He'd go where I put things to stop him from
getting out again, peck at it and fuss. He's pretty
smart for a parakeet. I finally caught him trying
to get out one time, but he couldn't I had already
fixed it.
A parakeet named Sparky.

Here's a little hint.
He has feeders, perches, 2 bells
to play with. And a mirror.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
