Like a Country Church

Like a Country Church

In my neighborhood, up the street from me,
There's a quaint little Church.
I'd see it each time I passed by,
I'd have to go there, and check it out.
At the time I wasn't going steady to church.
My best friend and her husband picked me up.
I went to their church for awhile,
'Til they weren't able to go a times.

I mentioned to my best friend, many times
About the one right up the street.
She used to go to the same kind,
'Til they moved to a different location.
Then she joined her husband's church.
So one day I decided to go,
I wanted to see what it was like,
A Church of the Nazarene.
It was my first time going to one,
Before I used to go to a Baptist Church, long ago.

As I walked up to the church,
I noticed that it's quite charming, in it's own way.
It's not big and fancy like some others I've seen,
For it's more cozy, you feel more comfortable there.
It gives the feel more like an old country church.
With some repairs needed, it still stands strong.
A country church is what it is, in a small town.
There's also a school that comes with it,
From kindergarden to the 12th grade.

Before I had entered the building, I had so many burdens.
Soon after I went thru the doors, I was greeted
By the most friendly and loving people.
You can feel all the love and caring there.
After being there for awhile, I could feel
The weight disappear from my shoulders.
I felt so much interpeace within me,
So relieved from the pressures of life.

I can deal with everything better,
Seeing everything in a new light.
There's a beautiful song, "God Will Make a Way,"
So true, you can feel the presence of the Lord.
Somehow, someway you will be showed the way,
Never lose faith in the Lord, he loves you.
I still go there today, the best decision I made.
Am I ever so glad, I walked thru those doors that day.
The little country church, up the street,
Welcome anyone to come, worship the Lord.

I'm so glad to be apart
of the family of God.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
