Just a little Reminder.... (A Story)

by Jean Mollett

Just a little Reminder....

next time you open something cold to drink. Always,
whether it's a soda pop, beeer, etc. To take and cut
the plastic rings up and discard in trash can.

The reason I tell you this, is because:
years ago when I was living in Indiana. There was a
news story that came on,showing the pictures too.
The story was about the trash dump, where small animals
hang out.

There were ducks, birds and other small animals
going thru the trash dump, looking for food.
Picking at anything and everything they could
find. They found a duck with a piece
of plastic around it's neck.

The duck was choking and the people finally
caught it. It was plastic from a 6 pack drink pack.
They worked on it and got the plastic off in time.
The duck was breathing fine and was released.

Author's Note: He went on his merry way, like nothing ever happened. So please, cut the plastic up before throwing it away.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
