Why Always Perfect????

by Jean Mollett

Why always Perfect?
Why do people emphasize the word perfect
so much? Can't it be normal or a regular
thing? Why does it always have to be
the best without defects? Can't they
be happy with something real, down-to
-earth items?

Why always Perfect?
Why always the best house, clothes, cars,
foods, friends? I'm certainly not. Even if
I could, I'ld still buy and live like I
normally do. The finest, richest, fanciest?
No, no way.

Why always Perfect?
Oh yes the best church or they think they're
better than others. Always telling their
kids the best grades only. B's and C's
aren't good enough, it's only A's or else.
I mean come on, just be happy they're in school.

Why always, Perfect?
Be happy they're doing their best, say maybe
you can work a little harder. Praise them
for doing good at something, don't cut
them down. Learn to get along well with
each other, love each other. Will they do
better? Yes, they will. Be there for your
children.

Author's Note: So many children are getting into so much trouble lately. Specially after schools out for the summer. This is a rough draft, it may need some more work.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
