Just One Look, Is All It Took

Just One Look, Is All It Took

Just one look, is all it took.
My hubby mentioned about 4 puppies
being dumped in Hendersonville.
A buddy at work had told him about
them, they had collars and food
with them. He found them and took
them home to his farm.

Just one look, is all it took.
Neither one of us knew much about
them, other than they were different
colors. Females and males. I thought,
it's been a long time since we had one
or a dog. I've been wanting one for
years, since I had to have my last
one put to sleep, due to illness,
old age, nothing else could be done
That was the hardest thing to
do, it tore me up. The tears came
pouring. I couldn't stay when they
did it. My hubby did. She's dearly
missed.

Just one look, is all it took.
My hubby went to see them after work,
here he came home with one. He said she's
outside, I said what!! I repeated it.
So, I went outside and there she was.
Not a little puppy at all, a large one.
Sitting there looking so pitful, her
paw reaching out. I took one look, and
that was it. I crumbled, melted, my heart
was stolen after seeing her. That cute
little face, with brown eyes. Looking so
cute and so innocent, sitting there
looking at me. I said nope, nope, you
ain't going anywhere. This is your
home now.

Author's Notes:
Hee! Hee! Now it's training time,
school is in session for
all of us.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
