A True Blessing

A True Blessing,

I never knew just how much is was at the time.

Til, my Mom became diagnosis with Alzheimer's Disease,

and my Dad with his diagnosis too.

A True Blessing.

A True Blessing,

my work at the school means so much to me.

Not that it's just a place to go to work, be paid.

It's been so much more and always will be.

A True Blessing.

A True Blessing,

the children there, I see each day.

I serve their food, watch their little faces.

I love and enjoy working with them.

A True Blessing.

A True Blessing,

when the visits with my Mom and Dad get bad,

I escape to my own little world,

wondering what the kids are doing today.

A True Blessing.

A True Blessing,

then it helps to ease the hurt and pain,

from hearing and seeing what's happening to them.

It's not easy to see or hear things from your Mom,

that's not suppose to be that way. Dad's more quite.

A True Blessing.

Author's Notes: The last 2 trips there,

I've had to walk out of the room, trying to hold back

the tears. It's not easy. Now, I realize that I should

let the teardrops fall. Holding back is not good.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
