Strange and Confusing

by Jean Mollett

Early this morning I woke up, glanced
at the clock. It's too early to get up,
I felt myself drifting off to sleep again.
I had a dream, that became a nightmare.
Strange and confusing.

In my dream for some reason, I had to
make a short trip. I decided to take a
bus, it would be there in the same day.
But I would arrive late in the evening.
Strange and confusing.

It was so confusing in my dream, every-
thing was going good. 'Til the bus drivers
changed. They announced each town, people
getting off and on.
Strange and confusing.

I noticed some people reading, some napping.
So, I decided to relax and take a nap. I heard
voices that were very different, from some other
state or country.
Strange and confusing.

It was time for me to get off at my stop,
I thought. Where am I? How did I get here? I
found myself somewhere, I couldn't make out
their language. A building sign, looked a
little like a place I knew. I found someone
that spoke English, so I could find my way
back.
Strange and confusing.

Then I woke up about that time, I thought to
myself. I sure hope and pray that doesn't come
true. I tried to make sense of it, but I couldn't.
What a nightmare. What was that all about?
Strange and confusing.

2003 Strange and Confusing

Author's Note: It kinda gives you an uneasy, creepy feeling. Specially, when you wake up from a dream or nightmare that seems so real. Your're afraid to move, you start to look around. Then you realize it never happened.  It sure feels that way.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
