Friendships

Friendships are to be cherished,
not taken for granted.
For you can never have enough friends,
To laugh, to love them, do things together.
Lots of times your friendships start out in school,
Then you all grow up together as friends.
Some may remain friends, some may
Go their own ways, due to moving or death.
Even after they move, you can still be friends
Emailing, writing letters, phone calls, visits.
Even with death, your hurting so,
You'll never forget them.

With many friends, there's always that
Special one, you consider your best friend.
Can be more than one, two or more,
But the one you feel the closest to.
You both share your secrets, you trust
Each other, know each others faults.
Go places together, trips, there
For each other in the hour of need.
My best friend is Louise, she's dear to me.
I cherish our friendship, cause they're hard
To come by, never forget them.

For if you've ever been hurt by a friend,
You'll understand what I mean.
If I say something that doesn't sound right,
She stops right there and tells me about it.
Louise keeps me in line, at times she
Tickles me, some of the things she'll say.
We've both been there for each other,
In many times of need, helping what we could.
That means alot to me, I'm glad I have her
For my best friend.

Now Louise is enduring the lost of her husband.
Her going thru so much pain, I was there,
What she went thru her husband's illness.
I was with her during her husband's treatments.
I saw his pain, heartaches not being well.
Being with her thru her pain, heartaches,
Wanting to help, not sure what I could do.
Give her a big hug, love her, be there,
Pray for both of them,
Add them to the prayer list at church.

I told some other friends about them,
To pray for them too. It's heart breaking.
For anyone's family to go thru this, it's not
Easy, keep praying, keep your faith.
To help ease your pain, guide you thru.
Louise has moved away recently, I
Miss her so much and EJ too.
We keep in touch calling one another,
Hopefully to go visit sometimes.
Thank you Lord for sending them to me.

Friendship is so precious,
To be Cherished.
Louise, is more than a best friend.
I consider her my sister.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
