King Kong, Put That One On

by Jean Mollett

King Kong, put that one on,
reaching to get a jar. I can get it.
Then stuggling to get the lid off,
trying to open the darn thing.
King Kong, put that one on.

King Kong, put that one on,
twisting, grabbing a wet cloth.
Pecking on the sink or table, then
getting it wet and still won't open.
King Kong, put that one on.

King Kong, put that one on,
fusing, fuming, some maybe cursing.
Making faces while trying to open it.
Grunting, moaning, some maybe even.
King Kong, put that one one.

King Kong, put that one on,
straining so hard, weird sounds.
Some very strange sounds, like a
mouse changing gears on his Honda.
King Kong, put that one one.

Author's Note: The guys, really love it, when they can't get it open. Then the lady comes along and picks it up and opens it freely.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
