Mom's Homemade Apple Cobbler

Mom's homemade apple cobbler.
I can almost hear Mom in the kitchen,
clanging her pots and pans. The sound
of apples rolling around in the sink,
as Mom drops them in for their wash. Soon
there would be a very special treat for
us to eat. Couldn't hardly stand the wait.
Mom's homemade apple cobbler.

Mom's homemade apple cobbler.
Oh the smell of cinnamon and apples,
thought a scent of vanilla too in the
midst of it all. It flowed through out
our home, it seemed like. Mom's cobbler
had a delightful crunch to her crust,
oh so yummy. A few mintes after it came
from the oven, waiting with our bowls.
Reaching for the cold milk to pour over
it, then chowing down big time.
Mom's homemade apple cobbler.

Mom's homemade apple cobbler.
It was such a special treat for us,
cause we never had alot of sweets. Never
understood why, 'til I got a little older.
Couldn't afford to buy such fancy made things
at the store. Whenever Mom got apples, the
word spread fast. Soon to have a delightful
scent flowing throughout each room. Waiting
for the cobbler to get done was so hard to
do. Just couldn't hardly stand to wait.
Mom's homemade apple cobbler.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
