The Seasons Come Alive

As time goes by, each season comes alive.
Springtime arrives, new flowers awaken.
Their stems, leaves reach out to the sky.
Without notice, the blooms pop out,
The sun comes up, lights up the day.
Flowers open to reach out to the sunlight.
Birds singing, making their nests,
Happy to see warm weather arrive.

Soon the weather gets warmer,
As summer has arrived.
More flowers have opened up,
Grass has already been cut.
School is already out, children playing,
Enjoying their summer vacation.
More outside activities starting,
For children to play, learn.
Hey, don't tell them.
They're still getting a new lesson,
In everything they do.

Summer is coming to an end, Fall is on it's way.
Soon children  will get ready for school.
Getting their new supplies, clothes.
Not wanting their summer vacation to end.
Parents are happy, school starts again.
The leaves will soon turn different colors,
Bright orange, red, yellow,
To show off their brillant beauty.

Raking the leaves into piles,
Children waiting to run and jump in them.
Playing, laughing while in the leaves,
Not a care to worry.
Hot weather starting to cool down,
Relief is on it's way.
School already started, bells ringing.
Fall will end soon, getting ready for winter.
Cooler weather on the way.

Trees, bushes are almost bare,
Leaves falling everywhere.
Children gathering all types of leaves,
For new lessons started in school.
Excitement in the air, as children
Make their way through the halls.
Being with their friends , making new ones.
Starting a new year, in a higher grade,
Knowing winter is near.

Halloween has come and gone,
Children eating the candy they received.
Holidays come and go, each has it's own special day.
Thanksgiving Day is near, Christmas is on it's way.
People getting ready for the holidays,
Rushing around to be done in time.
Going out to see the Christmas lights,
Shining so bright, decorations glowing.

Everyone seems to be much nicer, friendly.
It's a shame they couldn't be that way,
All year long, instead of just the holidays.
Let's not forget the most important events,
Giving thanks to our Lord at Thanksgiving.
And celebrate his birthday on Christmas Day.
That's the most important event,
Not all the presents you get or send.
Just like the day the Lord raised up from the tomb,
Went up to heaven.
Praise our Lord, give him your heart, your love.

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
