Fig Newtons and Peanut Butter

by Jean Mollett

Fig Newtons and peanut butter,
if ya want a special treat, try this
one. Yeah, you're probably saying or
wondering, "What's wrong with this
picture?" There's nothing wrong with
your picture, no need to adjust it. Relax.
Sounds good! Doesn't it? If not sure
then take one fig and smear a little
bit of peanut butter on it. Try it.
Fig Newtons and peanut butter.

Fig Newtons and peanut butter,
still not too sure, then try another.
While your fixing it, just take a good
look at the cookie. It's not exactly
a cookie, more like a slice of cake
wrapped around it. It could be like a
toy cake with fruit filling. Remember
the easy bake oven, those cakes were
very good. And the ovens are still
around, just more modern today, fancy.
Fig Newtons and peanut butter.

Fig Newtons and peanut butter,
okay now, ya just taste it before it
hits your mouth. Oh my, it's so good
and yummy. Only one way to find out,
is to try it. Add some good cold milk
or soda, a special treat to enjoy.
Okay, okay, was it worth the wait?
Oh yeah, the taste is unbelieveable,
so creamy and chewy. Now it's time
to just sit back and enjoy your
special treat.
Fig Newtons and peanut butter.

Author's Note: It's a rough draft, may need some work yet. So, what do ya think? Got your taste buds going?

About the Poet
I'm married. I am a grandmother. I love poetry, reading and writing it. Someone inspired me to start writing poetry again. That person is my Pastor.
