A Piece of My Peace for You

By Nan Forehand

Saturday, October 30. 2010

upon my cushioned rocking chair

I write this poem so you’ll know I care

I sit on my porch and gently rock

still dressed in my bedtime frock

open my eyes and intently listen

waters from my fountain glisten

spattering tiny droplets upon azaleas below

blooming white as freshly fallen snow

open my ears and happily hear

music from my chimes swaying near

rustling sounds as leaves exit the trees

cheeks refreshed by the cool morning breeze

glory to God; peacefulness abounds

as I soak in these beautiful sounds

my kitty, Little Kitty, naps in the swing

oh, what joy the day will bring

a piece of my peace I’ll share with you

no credit to me; to God credit is due

a smile stretches across this happy face

I lift to God my prayer for the whole human race

all in my prayer will be included

not even one to be excluded

a piece of my peace for you

a piece of my peace for you

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
