Sermon to Self

Sermon to Self

I am thankful to be alive

thankful to be loveable, loving and loved

when I'm feeling blue

I know it's only temporary

it's not the size of my house that counts

rather the amount of love shared inside it

never alone on this journey

God is with me each step of the way

when necessary - forgive others and myself

I'm a better helper to God when my conscience is clear

never withhold love and affection as punishment

lessons learned in love are tenderly remembered

be nice --- just because

it does require my time to be an active listener

speaking of time --- use it wisely

don't waste a minute of this precious life

no one really wants to die

are you  tired of feeling pain or feeling nothing

God does give us power to overcome

but we must never give up hope

we will receive exactly as much strength

as we need when we need it

deep down inside - we all want to believe

to know without a doubt --- God does love us

love freely given is multiplied a hundred times over

better to share love than to have a heavy heart

take time for the elderly

the time is now --- before they're gone

the best way to lift my spirit

is to lift the spirit of some one else

children are precious and belong to God

they are to be nurtured and loved unconditionally

take time to listen to the sounds of nature

some of the best medicines are free and right outside the door

for every decision we will make today

there will be a reward or consequence

we may not receive our reward or consequence today,

but we will --- all in good time

the only way to learn patience is to be

in an impatient situation

love each other

God first loved us

I don't want God to be disappointed in me

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
