Close Your Eyes and You Will See

This morning before I arose from my bed
a wondrous thought came into my head
a burning desire to be nearer to God today
felt like He had something special to say
walking along the path in the early morning light
image in my mind suddenly clear and bright
so unlike the heavy fog stretched over the field
something amazing soon to be revealed
close your eyes and you will see
a special vision of Me
close your eyes and let everything go
there's something special I want you to know
standing close to the old oak tree
no one there except God and me
at His command a peaceful calm came over me
as I stood near the old oak tree
I could feel the breeze
rustling through the leaves
His presence I could feel
Yes, His presence was real
I envisioned myself standing before Him
both with arms outstretched, but His image so dim
we came together with fingers intwined
thank you God for this image in my mind
in the act of coming together we're able to help others
after all, they're your sisters and brothers
You hold onto Me and I'll hold on to you
Take the hands of others and bring them along, too
We'll all hold hands in a circle and everyone will be free
close your eyes and you will see

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
