 Light and Laughter - Haiku

 By: Nan Forehand

a ray of sunshine

her smile lights up night or day

Marla - treasured friend

great sense of humor

laughter is good medicine

she laughs easily

Author's note:  These haiku are dedicated to Marla.  She continues to inspire me to write.  Through her inspiration, encouragement and support, I began writing Nan's Calendar three years ago.  It began in the form of writings of inspirational quotes and special Bible verses in a journal on August 1, 2007.  October 21st of that year, I heard the call from God to send these devotionals through email to reach those who need encouragement in their daily lives.  In September of 2009, they began to reach the world through the miracle of blogging.  You can read these inspirational messages by visiting http://nanscalendar.blogspot.com/  Thanks Marla!  You're a gem!  Thanks God!  You're the GREATEST!

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
