In Great Anticipation

In Great Anticipation

in all my 48 years

I've cried lots of tears

when I was sad....when I was glad

in all my 48 years

I've seen loved ones and peers

overcame many fears and insecurities

in all my 48 years

oh, the joy when a loved one appears

But,  I've never seen my father's face

in all my 48 years

not his face - not his tears

it's true - never - no, not one time

thanks to the beauty of the internet

I found a niece and online we've met

she's an angel - my Michelle

of my heart's desire, she's aware

yes, she truly does care

she's found a picture of my Dad

I'm gettin' the chills - I'm so glad

pictures are on the way

I hardly know what to think or say

what will I think, when his image I see

thank you God, for your mercy and grace

I'll finally get to see my Father's face!

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
