For When I Die

written on September 3, 2014
by Nan Forehand

I would tell you I'm "simply deep".
There will be no need to woefully weep.

If you must cry, shed tears of joy instead.
I will live forever.  I will not be dead.

The end of this mortal life, we cannot escape.
Around my shoulders, a robe of white, Jesus will drape.

With this life, I have vowed to live, love and believe;
One day, Jesus' hand I will receive.

Perhaps I will live to the ripe old age of 107.
At my last breath, I will go to Heaven.

For when I die, I shall not be gone.
My darlings, you will never be alone.

To love, to give, to share;
Live this way, if you dare.

So many blessings have been mine.
Even more will come from my Savior Divine.

Come to Him.  Come to Him if you've walked away.
Come to Him now.  Come to Him today.

Give Him your heart.  Give Him your soul.
He's the only One who can make a broken heart whole.

One minute, we're here, and then we seem to be gone.  Our next breath could be our last.
Death can come slowly over the years or shockingly quite fast.

When I shall come up to Heaven's door,
I want to be with my loved ones who have gone on before.

I don't say these things to be morbid, oh contraire.
One day in Heaven, I want to see you there.

I love you.  I love you, one and all.
I will be ready when I hear Jesus call.

Will you? .................I pray you will be ready.
Lean on Jesus.  He will wrap His loving arms around you and keep you steady.

For when I die,
There will be no need to cry.

My love for you goes far beyond space and time.
I give you my heart within the words of my rhyme.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
