Briony and the Teddy Bear Givers

written on July 7, 2014
by: Nan Forehand

There's an important message within the lines of my rhyme.
Don't underestimate the value of a brief moment in time.

She isn't Harry Potter's Hermione.
This amazing lady's name is Briony.

For a moment we met in a public place.
Beauty and love were written all over her face.

She was there to conduct an interview.
I was to meet a reporter who would interview me, too.

The teddy bear I carried stirred her curiosity.
I explained about my God-given ministry.

She gave me her card and I gave her mine.
We left each other feeling quite fine.

God ensured our brief interlude.
Of friendship and goodwill Briony does surely exude.

She's a mover and a shaker.
She's a giver, not a taker.

To Raleigh she returned,
while inside her a desire quietly burned.

To collect teddy bears was her goal.
She serves the Lord with her heart and soul.

Briony encouraged and motivated
others to become energized and activated.

Bears came in from the left and the right.
That must have been a beautiful sight!

Boxes of bears, by the mailman were delivered.
I was so surprised, I literally shivered!

Since then, she has sent many, many more.
Briony and her associates are my heroes; that's for sure!

This ministry is not about me.
It is about God sending HIs love and comfort through teddy bears who can't even see.

Teddy bears speak in a language of their own.
God will surely harvest a bounty of the seeds of love we have sown.

God prepares blessings before we have a need.
He is pleased and honored by a lot more love and a lot less greed.

Thank you, Briony Voorhees and all of your teddy bear givers!
Through your generosity and compassion, our loving God always delivers!

How long will Nan's Goodwill Bears move throughout the lands?
One way or another, they will be given as long as God puts teddy bears in my hands :)

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
