The Gift

a most amazing gift I have received
because so deeply have I believed
I try to speak God's word with utmost respect
His Word - I urge you not to reject
God gave me a spiritual gift to serve others
listen now before your breath Satan smothers
the very words of God are in this book I read
regardless of the situation, it fills my every need
I pray the Holy Spirit reaches you through The Word
put your nose in the book; He wants His Word to be heard
the Word of God is at work in me
because He wants you to take heed and believe
He wants me to be a part of your spiritual history
assisting in a small way to unravel His mystery
I do not boast so as to give myself credit
this I say with assurance, 'cause in the Bible I read it
it is my call to encourage those whose faith is not mature
I also have more maturing to do, that's for sure
as long as we keep reading and turning the pages
we'll grow closer to our Rock of Ages
in case you wonder sometimes
God gave me the gift of spiritual rhymes
I'm also grateful for each changing season
and a special lady named Reason

1 Timothy 4:10-11
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
