The Quickened Beat

to You, oh God, I made my vow
to be a witness, but sometimes don't know how
I try to understand the language of which You speak
use me when I'm strong and even when I'm weak
in my heart, I feel the quickened beat
and in my face, I begin to feel the heat
as I look into another's eyes
I know You've felt their pain and heard their cries
a message you want me to share
You want them to know You are always there
open your Bible; glean wisdom only the Good Book can bring
abide in His Word and your spirit will sing

Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other. Forgive as the LORD forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
