A Cup of Blessing

A Cup of Blessing

today I received such a special token
her words were sweet and love was spoken
she reminded me of a gift to her before we moved
she always spoke of God, as it behooved
around my table we ladies would sit
these special ones I'll never forget
every Monday for six weeks we shared
and realized how much each other cared
each week small tokens I'd give
encouraging reminders for each day we live
my intent was that God's love would be spoken
upon the giving of each little token
one day in a shop I happened to look up
and to my surprise the perfect coffee cup
for each lady, a special cup I chose
in their cheeks the love of Jesus glows
today I read "you are still in my memory
and I drink a cup of blessing every time
I use the coffee cup you gave me"
little did she know that today
I drank a cup of comfort sent my way
today I received this comfort and cheer
for yesterday we lost our little dog so dear
God spoke to me through her
and sent this beautiful token, as it were
each time we say "God help me"
believe me, He hears each and every plea
God called and she did not tarry
she sent this card to me; dear sweet Mrs. Gerry

Matthew 5:6
blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
