Hope for those suffering depression

Withering Heart

all alone in this room
thoughts of doom and gloom
oh, for crying out loud
lonely, but oh so proud
when was the last smile
can't remember ... it's been a while
failing as a human being
this veil of loneliness revealing
the shrinking of a sad, sick mind
a life of a terrible kind
helpless, hopeless, guilty, full of doubt
hearing only echos of shout after shout
OH God! WHAT TO DO? OH God! WHAT TO DO?
a heart withering - breaking in two
painfully, slowly tearing apart
Dear God, is there any help for this withering heart?

1 Peter 5:5-7
...."God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves, therefore under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
1 Chronicles 28:9-10
... acknowledge the God of your father, and serve Him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek Him, he will be found by you...

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
