Blessings Overflowing


blessings overflowing
today God's love was really showing
blessings of love for me to touch and read
for those of you who don't believe, take heed
we've loved our dog, Fred for thirteen years
and yesterday we were all brought to tears
we knew the time had come to put him to sleep
and yes, even the strongest among us did weep
little did certain people know
through them God's love would flow
when I arrived at my office today
God showed His love in a tangible way
a patient came to the office yesterday afternoon
left a gift that didn't come too late or too soon
a beautiful little angel to hold
and a message from God she told
the card read "have faith in God's healing
and let angels guide the way
so that love, hope and faith
are the start of each new day"
God used her in a very special way
she had no clue Freddie died yesterday
she was a messenger of God's love
sent from heaven above
for those of you who still don't believe
more blessings from God I did receive
as my co worker and I shared an embrace
she showed compassion as tears ran down her face
a blessing from God is my co worker to me
God knew I needed a friend, you see
through thick and thin we'll always be
my special friend God sent to me
by the time I got home, my eyes were swollen and red
I got a card in the mail and here's what it said
"I drink a cup of blessing every time I use the coffee cup you gave me"
she said this among other things
a special chime in my heart still rings
she certainly did not know
yesterday we had to let Freddie go
yes, her card was a blessing, too
this message is for me and also for you
do you still not believe
yet another blessing I did receive
God did something else special this time
He helped me express in word and rhyme
people need to know in their heart
even when loved ones depart
there are still blessings to reap
even when at times we must weep
still one more blessing I must share
today I received an email from a love so rare
she is so near and dear to my heart
even though we are miles apart
she thought of me and sent a love note my way
and did not know Freddie died yesterday
open your heart and your eyes to know and believe
many blessings from God you, too can receive

Ephesians 3:20
now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
