The Death of Prayer

to worry, hurry, rant and rave
can send you to an early grave
when you feel tension - do you pace
have you noticed the worry lines in your face
when angry - do you fuss and cuss and spit and sputter
think about it - even one word of prayer, did you utter
are you rocking violently in this storm
will one prayerful thought even form
in your Bible lies the secret
to ignore it will be your regret
the Bible holds the solution to this anxiousness you feel
the inspired Word of God is absolutely real
slow down; take a deep breath and sit down
relax your jaw; release that frown
to hurry is the death of prayer
relax and give to God every worry and care
the Bible is a big book and may intimidate
but upon God's word, you must meditate
should you not learn to be still
the answers to your prayers may be nil
The Good Shepherd is the LORD your God
He holds the staff and the rod

Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God...
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside the quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his namesake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
