Fourth of July 2005

God has been working on me
for He had a plan, you see.
It’s been a long, hard road.
I carried such a heavy load.
Sexually abused and sadly misused
at times lost and so confused.
Through it all I knew in my heart
God would help me get a brand new start.
Left home with only the clothes on my back
My spirit was right on track.
Just knew there had to be
a better life waiting for me.
Trusted God through thick and thin.
He saved me from all my sin.
My soulmate loves me so;
saw an inner beauty, don’t you know.
Hidden deep inside
my ugly past I tried to hide.
God has been so good to me
and from my past He set me free.
No more nightmares to endure
God healed me, that’s for sure.
Now He’s given me a wonderful gift.
It’s your spirit He wants to lift.
He’s using me humble and meek.
Through my words He wants to speak.
My poems were accepted today just for you
by a special man named Que.
Today I truly came alive
on the Fourth of July 2005.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
