My Brother Lin

beautiful blue eyes

winning smile and sun-kissed face

my brother likes me

Author's note: Sometimes the simplest things in life are the most precious.  My brother and I met for the first time August 28, 2008.  This poem was written after our visit at the beach.  "I love you, but more than that, I like you", he said as he gave me a hug and kissed my cheek, and smiled at me.  I implore you, as you read this poem, don't take the simple gestures of love for granted (a hug, a kiss, a smile).  As I write this message to you, I'm almost 49 years old and have recently, this summer,  met two of my brothers for the first time.  I have one more brother yet to meet.  Miracles still happen in our day and age.  Our God is an awesome God.  Lord, thank you for my brothers, Lin, Woody and Gene.

About the Poet
I grew up in rural North Carolina, married for 38 years to my best friend and soulmate, Allen, who retired almost 17 years ago from the Air Force after 24 years of service to our beloved America. We have a daughter, Ashley ( and son-in-law, Kris) and, a son, John, and, our two beautiful grand daughters, Amelia and Haley, and Isaac, our only grandson, all blessings from God. We have four cats; Mr. Peabody, Missy, aka Middle Kitty and Tabby, aka Little Kitty, and Gracie. I've seen a lot of hard times and God has always been here for me to see me through them. I am a vessel God can use to help others in need. If I could be described in one word, it would be that I am an encourager.
