Lest We Forget

Lest We Forget

From bondage in Egypt
God set His people free...
when there was no retreat,
He parted the Red Sea...
As a cloud by day and
pillar of fire by night,
He delivered His children
from their dreadful plight.

Manna and quail He supplied,
all their needs were met...
in the barren desert
a table for them set!
yet what did they do
in the course of a day?
instead of being grateful
they would gripe and disobey!

Witnesses to God's wonders,
yet hardened to the core,
they engaged in vulgarity
and sinning even more...
rebellion ruled their hearts
but God loved them still...
He gave them many chances
to conform to His will...

We know the punishment,
the worst of all fears...
a journey of eleven days
instead took forty years!
lest we forget the lesson
God was trying to convey,
give Him thanks and glory,
and most of all obey!

Exodus 12:31,etc..

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
