Brush Strokes of Sorrow

Brush Strokes of Sorrow

He willingly endured pain,
great suffering and persecution,
and Jesus carried His cross
to His own execution!

The bitter pill of myrrh
He ingested for our sake
while His friends in Gethsemane
couldn't even stay awake!

On God's canvas of life
the brush strokes of sorrow
and colors of tribulation
prepare us for tomorrow!

Yet when sorrow does call
can we endure the heat,
shoulder our own cross
or succumb to defeat?

The decision is ours
and if victory is won,
we'll emerge out of sorrow
reflecting God's Son!

John 18:11 "Shall I not drink from the cup the Father has given Me?"

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
