Deadly Roots

Deadly Roots

Search me Lord and if You find
the stems of bitterness,
reveal their deadly roots
and clean up all the mess.

Slash them where they're planted
before they spread around,
cleanse me by Your blood
so no trace can be found.

When You finish doing that
please probe for other kinds,
like resentment or jealousy
and if those two you find,

sever every wicked branch
to prevent a deadly spree...
I give you my permission
to perform the surgery!

Most of all I ask Lord, if
You spot unbelief and doubt,
expose their evil tendrils
and help me pluck them out!

So it goes Dear Lord,
remove the ghastly weeds
that lurk in hidden regions
and replace them will good seeds!

Jeremiah 17:9&10

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
