Golgatha

Golgatha

Thorns formed His crown,
nails pierced His hands,
many wept, others scoffed,
some didn't understand.

Love and sorrow flowed
from that old rugged tree;
the devil faced defeat,
but for us twas victory!

Like a lamb to the slaughter
Jesus paid our penalty,
when He shed His blood
on a mount called Calvary.

It was finished at Golgatha
our salvation was sealed;
Jesus overcame sin and death
and by His stripes we're healed!

Tho wickedness will increase
God's grace shall more abound;
on Christ the solid rock
is where I can be found!

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
