Fleshpots

Fleshpots

Run from the fleshpots,
flee her alluring arms...
lust not after dainties
and her seductive charms.
Sin has built its nest
in the hearts of men
who seek not the Lord
but her iniquity den!

Craving forbidden morsels
are the young and old,
mesmerized by the glitter
of her silver and gold.
Intoxicated by pleasure
and selfish pursuits,
staggering from sampling
her contaminated fruits.

Beware of the perfume
that permeates the air
and leads you to her web
to trap you there.
God is calling men out
to a wonderful place
where true joy is found
thru His goodness and grace.

No ruse to enslave you,
but God's freedom awaits
all those who turn away
from the fleshpot gates!

Galatians 5:19-21 "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, idolatry, witchcraft, selfish ambition, jealousy, fits of rage, drunkenness, orgies, etc.  I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
