New Year Broken Promises

Broken Resolutions

Making new year resolutions
start off with good intentions,
but those who fail to keep them,
are too numerous to mention.

Still resolutions are made
with wholehearted zeal,
but vaporize too soon
often losing their appeal!

Promises are easily made
but too many are broken,
because talk can be cheap
if empty words are spoken.

There's ONE whose word
always achieves its goal...
it never returns void
and edifies the soul.

Jesus is the Son of God
Who came to save all men...
we proclaim in every year
on God's word we can depend!

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
